EB2, EB3, EN1, EJ1 CNC Machined Valve Cover EB2, EB3, EN1, EJ1 CNC Machined Valve Cover This is the exact valve cover we use on our championship winning EN1 engines that power the famous GT Lite 1976 Honda Civic we still race in SCCA National competition. This valve cover is based on the original Mugen valve cover for the 1237 to 1335cc Honda engines from the late 1970s and early 1980s Honda Civics. We took the Mugen valve cover that we have and sent it out to be laser scanned. We took the scanned data and converted it to a ProEngineer drawing. We made changes to the original cast aluminum design to make it more manufacturable on a CNC machine. This mostly consisted of removing draft angles from the vertical portions, making the wall thicknesses uniform throughout, and removing as much excess material as possible. Like the Mugen cover, we kept the mounting points inside for the stock air vent. For a street engine, just transfer these parts over from a stock valve cover. For a race motor, particularly if it uses a spray bar for better cam oiling, this will need to be machined out for clearance. The actual vent port is threaded 1/8 inch NPT and will need a pipe to hose barb fitting to adapt to the stock vent hose. On a race motor, this should be changed to an NPT to AN fitting to connect to the vent of a dry sump tank for a sealed engine bay, or to a catch tank for a wet sump engine. The standard finish is a satin black anodize, but other colors are available on request. There is a flat recessed area on the top of the cover where we put our lexan RaceEnergy logo, but if you prefer we will make a custom label of your design. We have a professional Gerber labeling system in house so any label can be produced. Complexity, form of the original artwork and number of colors all factor into the cost. If you can find one, an original Mugen valve cover is a collectible that will set you back well in excess of $1000. All though ours is also expensive at $899, it is considerably less than an original. Please contact us if you would like one.
